Ultracold atomic bosons in double- and triple-well potentials

We consider ultracold atomic bosons confined in double- and triple-well shaped potentials. We study such systems within the framework of the (two- and three-site) Bose-Hubbard model. By varying the atom-atom interaction, we analyze the bosons ground-state. This latter exhibits a variety of forms ranging from the coherent state in the delocalization regime to a macroscopic cat-like state with fully localized populations. We characterize the quantum correlations of the ground state from the bi-partition perspective by the entanglement entropy.
